Once upon a time on Crete Island there was a king whose name was Minos. Minos asked Daedalus to create the famous labyrinth to imprison the terrifying Minotaur. The Minotaur was a beast with the face of a bull and the body of a man and was eating King Minos’ slaves.

After the creation of the Labyrinth, Minos imprisoned Daedalus and his son, Icarus, in a high tower. Daedalus began thinking about how they could get away. He started collecting bird feathers and joining them carefully with rope and wax. He showed Icarus how to use the wings and after a lot of practice Icarus could fly well.

“Now, Icarus we are ready to fly home. Don’t forget to stay close to me to show you the way home”. At the beginning of their flight Icarus was feeling scared but then he started feeling excited. “Icarus don’t fly so high! Come behind me! Come down right now!” Icarus was so near the sun that the wax started melting. It was too late! He was falling into the sea. The sea was named Icarian and until today we all remember the fall of Icarus.
